The Big Daddy Challenge
Take the bike bus to Port de Pollença and ride to Andratx along the spine of the Unesco World heritage Serra de Tramunatana mountains, taking in the additional climbs of Port des Canonge, Port Valldemossa and Port Sa Calobra for an epic challenge that you can complete in your own time at your own pace.
There is climbing. A lot of it. The word “unrelenting” has been mentioned more than once when referring to The Big Daddy. There are 8 classified cols to get your bike and smile/grimace over, all surrounded by the best Mallorca scenery of mountains, forest and coastal views across the Med (all the way to Barcelona on clear days).
When are scheduled bike buses to Port de Pollença available?
If your fuel of choice is excellent coffee with the occasional nibble of decent cake or tasty tapas, the Big Daddy route has got you covered as there are numerous brilliant villages such as Estellencs, Banyalbufar, Deià, Valldemossa or Sóller etc etc that appear approximately every hour with all the choices you may need. If you do stop at any of the Ports, remember you are at sea level and the only way out for you and all your consumed food is up!
This route is not for everyone. It is hard, very hard. Our advice is that if you are not fit enough, get fit enough as this will be one of the routes you remember forever, the route that will make the memories., your own personal sportive, but with better scenery, better road surfaces and better weather than most!
Just in case Murphy’s law comes along and bike or body break down, we recommend taking out cover with Mallorca Bicycle Rescue to give you peace and mind whilst you venture far and wide.
